Director of Operations

Position Description
The responsibilities of this position are to oversee delivery, transfilling, inventory of supplies and equipment, to oversee the general operations of the company, to oversee the warehouse operations, and to provide inventory control.

Reports To
Chief Executive Officer

Major Responsibilities

  1. Supervision and Management
    • Supervise the delivery of supplies to patients.
    • Supervise and provide management direction for delivery drivers for Home Medical Equipment and Respiratory departments, and for the inner-store deliveries.
    • Maintain and create new initiatives for the general operations of the company.
    • Supervise the Repair and Maintenance Department.
    • Supervise Home Delivery Coordination division.
    • Oversee transfilling station operations.
  2. Inventory
    • Control inventory by making purchasing decisions that will have the greatest positive affect on the company and its patients. Contracting with companies when expedient.
    • Oversee warehouse and distribution of supplies and equipment.
    • Coordinate scanning and point of sale system.
    • Procurement of merchandise so that the quantity and quality meet the needs of patients.
    • Provide item codes and shelf tags for merchandise.
    • Provide expert advise in merchandising products.
  3. Communication and Coordination
    • Communicate with personnel to assist smooth coordination of services.
    • Inform staff members of changes in products and procedures on a continuous basis.
  4. Other
    • Organize and direct the agency’s ongoing functions to assure availability of services.
    • Implement governing body directives or policies.
    • Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Employ qualified personnel to maintain appropriate staffing.
    • Ensure adequate staff education and evaluation.
    • Monitor quality and appropriateness of services and products.
    • Fiscal management.
    • Program planning, development, administration, and evaluation.
    • Represent the organization to other groups, agencies, and the general public and ensure accuracy of public information materials.
    • Inform governing body and staff of current organizational, community, and industry trends.
    • Perform all other related duties as directed by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation is required. The employee must have an extensive retail background, computer knowledge, and an understanding of the interrelationship among a variety of departments, as well as, insurance guidelines. Also, the employee must understand how to be efficient in operations in order to make a profit and a willingness to learn and try new initiatives, which will build upon previous experiences. Negotiation skills are of great benefit in this position. A combination of education and related experience are used to meet minimum qualifications. In addition, the employee must comply with regular and continuing education and training provided and scheduled by Kohll’s.
