What is AminoActiv®?

The AminoActiv® product is based on common and natural molecules including Ethyl - (a-guanido-methyl) ethanoate — which is a blend of several amino acids. Individually, the amino acids do not have anti-inflammatory properties but, when synthesized in our Patent-Protected process, they together form a compound that expresses the same dose-related anti-inflammation effects as Ieading NSAID’s — like ibuprofen (a popular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

The main difference is that AminoActiv® accomplishes its pain relief without side effects — such as stomach ulceration (gastro-intestinal bleeding) or toxicity to the liver or kidneys. Also, AminoActiv® will not slow down protein synthesis, inhibit COX pathways, or interfere with tenocyte functions as NSAID’s do — all are key to muscle, bone, tendon, and ligament repair and healing. AminoActiv additionally acts to prevent inflammation due to reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their detrimental effects on tissue.

Safety, toxicity, and necropsy studies were performed at a major university medical center with no negative side effects or contraindications observed — even when dosed at super-therapeutic levels (30x recommended dosage). This data was submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which granted allowance for the product to be offered to the OTC (over-the-counter) market.

With its potent, but safe blend of Ethyl - ( a-guanido-methyl) ethanoate and other homeopathic pain and inflammation extracts*, AminoActiv® has proven itself to be an effective, healthy, and natural alternative to many OTC and prescription pain-relieving drugs.

How does it work?

AminoActiv® Mechanism of Action (MOA):

Background: For several reasons, certain ingredients in AminoActiv® are important components for (and/or contribute to) optimal functional operation of mammalian cells. They specifically assist in the replenishment of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) within the cell ­— which is important because ATP provides the energy (or "fuel") for all cells to "work" and function properly (i.e. functional energy, not stimulant energy). During normal or excessive cellular activity, cellular stores of ATP are depleted. Thus, the ability to regenerate high energy ATP is critical in order to maintain optimal cellular function. Additionally, these compounds are important to all cells in maintaining the integrity of the mitochondria — which are organelles found within the cell and that are a critical part of the production of energy required by the cell.

Biological Effects of AminoActiv®: The active ingredients of AminoActiv® have been shown to produce anti-inflammatory responses. This effect was initially identified in subjects that were taking the compound for other reasons, but who noticed a decrease in tissue soreness and pain in both related and unrelated indications. These reports motivated laboratory research to assess the efficacy — two main therapeutic effects were manifested.

First, it was observed that the active ingredients could reduce lactic acid production in muscle cells following periods of hypoxia. Accumulation of lactic acid in the muscles is one of the causes of muscle soreness immediately following strenuous activity. Second, it was discovered that AminoActiv® could prevent prostaglandin production and release from cells exposed to bacterial endotoxins. Importantly, the anti-inflammatory properties were effectively equivalent to those observed with ibuprofen — a popular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) found in both prescription and over the counter pain medications.

The effects of AminoActiv® on reducing lactic acid production and accumulation appear to be a direct result of enabling increased and accelerated production of ATP which thereby provides energy for maximum cell function and recovery. The effects of AminoActiv® on inflammation and prostaglandin production continue to be studied, but initial assessment indicates that efficacy is related to the stabilization of mitochondrial membranes. Stabilized (healthier) mitochondria are less susceptible to damage and injury. Reported in a recent article in "Arthritis and Rheumatism” (Volume 58. page 2409, 2008) -- “... damage to the mitochondria of human chondrocyte cells results in increased levels of prostaglandin production.” This is important in that recent inflammation research supports mitochondrial dysfunction as the central (common) pathway for inflammation. Thus, anything that stabilizes mitochondrial function is key to preventing cellular inflammation. This central hypothesis is gaining acceptance in the classical inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and in as neuro-degenerative based indications such as Alzheimer’s disease.

The oxidation of lipids and proteins in the body to form free oxygen radicals also has a major impact on inducing inflammatory reactions in tissue (Review: Thrombosis and Haemostasis. 97(3):234-254, 2007). An increased level of free oxygen radicals in tissue will ultimately lead to cellular dysfunction and result in both acute and chronic localized inflammation. Continued accumulation of free radicals can cause this process to progress until the inflammation itself causes cellular damage and tissue injury resulting in more inflammation and pain.

A key location for generating oxygen free radicals is the mitochondria (Review: Journal of Investigative Dermatology 124:443-452, 2005). When the mitochondria become damaged from oxygen free radicals, one of the by-products is the formation of lipid free radicals in the mitochondrial membrane, which results in a cascade of chemical and enzyme messengers that generate the formation and release of prostaglandins, which cause inflammation and pain. Initial scientific assessment indicates that AminoActiv®’s ability to increase the stability of the mitochondria allows natural resistance to the pro-inflammatory events that otherwise lead to a loss of mitochondrial membrane function, and also lead to the formation and release of prostaglandins. By stabilizing and preventing the inflammatory cascade at the start, as opposed to inhibiting the COX enzyme pathways as is the mode of action of many NSAIDs), AminoActiv® is able to prevent the sequence of cellular inflammatory events which otherwise culminate in the release of prostaglandins and other lipid mediators of cell injury. This MOA allows AminoActiv to have the therapeutic equivalence of NSAID’s for relieving and/or preventing inflammation and pain, but without the negative side effects of NSAID's (organ toxicity, gastro-intestinal ulceration / bleeding impedance of protein synthesis, etc.).

AminoActiv® is sold by the case* to professional clinicians on a wholesale basis for use with and distribution to that segment of their patient population that is in need of pain management and for whom NSAIDs, narcotics, and other prescription or OTC pain relievers are not desired because of renal or hepatic sensitivities, concern over gastro-intestinal ulcerations, addictive tendencies, or lifestyles choices (options for natural, non-toxic, safer pain relief).

Indications & Dosage / Use:

    Take 2 capsules 1-2 times daily and apply topical cream to effected areas as needed (1-2 times per day recommended to accelerate recovery)
    For chronic/long-term back pain, take 2 capsules twice daily and apply topical cream to effected areas as needed (1-2 times per day recommended). For acute/recent back-pain due to injury or similar, take 2 capsules, 3 times daily and apply topical cream to effected areas 2 times daily, morning and night recommended, until recovery is achieved
    Apply topical cream to effected areas 2-3 times per day or as needed to diminish swelling, pain, bruising, and to accelerate recovery
    Take 2 capsules 1-2 times daily and apply topical cream to effected areas 1-2 times per day
    Ttake 2 capsules 1-2 times daily and apply topical cream to effected areas as needed (1-2 times per day recommended to control symptoms)
    Take 2 capsules, 3 times daily and apply topical cream to effected areas as needed (2-3 times per day recommended to control symptoms)
    Ttake 2 capsules twice daily and apply topical cream to feet, twice daily. NOTE: symptoms typically alleviated in 6-8 weeks (vs. 6 months or more for most cases)

NOTE: AminoActiv cream contains amino-crystals. Rub in until crystals have melted into skin (excellent trans-dermal penetration properties get the active ingredients into tissues rapidly). Cream may feel slightly greasy to the touch but rinses easily with water. Non-staining to clothing and does not have a menthol or camphor smell. A small percentage of users (10% or less) feel a prickling or tingling sensation as active ingredients penetrate – if you are one of these people, simply give product 20-30 minutes for active ingredients absorption and then rinse area with water. Wash area in between uses to keep pores open and clean.
