One area we have concentrated on is the significant savings that can be achieved in the Mail Service Pharmacy.

The KRM Advantage

	KRM has developed a prescription software program that can control and sustain drug costs. This is very important today, as drug costs are increasing twice as much as hospital costs a year. Eventually, drugs will be the largest part of healthcare costs for employers if current drug costs continue to grow.
	KRM has developed a successful program where we are able to educate the Physician to prescribe a generic therapeutic alternative drug for a branded product that does not have a generic available. What this means is that there are generic medications available that are in the same therapeutic class as a Branded drug whose patent has not yet expired.

Generic Therapeutic Alternative Prescription Program

KRM clinical pharmacy staff identifies brand name medications in a class of drugs (e.g. anti-inflammatory) where there is another branded medication with a generic available. These two medications are therapeutically used to treat the same disease.

A call of fax is sent to the Physician for approval. The Physician reviews the patient's file and calls or faxes the approval or disapproval back.

We are experiencing a 75% return for approvals.

The savings achieved by splitting a higher strength mediction for a lower strength is 45%.

We are seeing a 70% approval by the employee

KRM has developed another program to educate the employee about alternative choices they can make to save them more out-of-pocket money.

This program is mostly successful when the employer participates. KRM supplies supporting data reports to the Employer on a quarterly basis. We produce in house a copy of a drug benefit plan design that shows the employee where he/she can get their best value. We are also available to speak to the employees upon renewal about the prescription program.

We have set maximum allowable costs in our mail service. The average MAC is up to AWP - 82%.

Our biggest difference between RxMPSS and the other vendors is the Generic Therapeutic Program we developed; we are not dependent upon manufacturer's rebates to decide what medications will be preferred. Along with a good prescription plan design, RxMPSS can demonstrate savings to 20% or more and will put that in writing. Guaranteed!

Therapeutic Equivalent Prescriptions Savings Program

Many brand name medications that do not have an FDA approved generic do, in fact, have a therapeutic equivalent medication that does.

Many Physicians are not aware of these therapeutic equivalent generics. MedsBUYMail will contact the Physician and explain and educate the Physician about these medications.

The medications are for the exact same therapeutic disease but are manufactured by a competing drug company.

THese medications have been available for over 5 years and have been shown safe and effective, where as, the newer medications (brands without a generic) have not been on the market long enough to demonstrate their effectiveness.

Our generic therapeutic program is unique in that:
- KRM looks at the brand name drug products that are me-too's. Me-too's are branded drugs made by competing drug manufacturers that provide the same therapeutic value as ones on the market. Most times there is a me-too drug product that has lost its' patent and a generic is available. (e.g. Protonix, Prilosec)
- There are drug products in a class of drugs (e.g. Cardiac) that will have a generic therapeutic drug for the one that is currently dispensed. KRM provides this information in written form or contacts the employee and the Physician to consider the change.
